It’s that time again – the Rugby World Cup is here!!! The tournament is the first to be held outside of the grassy meadows of the rugby powerhouses. 20 qualified teams started out on 20th September but there can be only one winner of the Webb Ellis trophy.

A study commissioned by Twitter showed that fans following a sporting event on the platform whilst watching it on TV improved memory and engagement with adverts on both channels.

These articles all highlight the use of data within a sporting context. It shows the influence analytics can have on the World Cup both on and off the pitch. Japan has made a wonderful success of hosting and entertaining us during this tournament in spite of the destruction caused by Typhoon Hagibis.
